SOLSTICE // EQUINOX

It has been a bit quiet this last month, so I have taken that time to work on a new collection of pendants. Reading and researching has been fascinating journey during this dark and very wet winter, and now the sun has finally come out, in perfect timing to take photos of the finished jewellery!

I have focused on our ancient culture, the seasons that were once our survival, which now still root us physically and emotionally to the turning of the year. Each bears a little symbol, crow, narcissus, sun and oak.

They are larger than my other pieces, as I wanted them to have a coin like feel to be a talisman to hold on to. For that reason they will be pricey in gold due to the high gold value at the moment, so I have also made these in bronze too! Bronze has a lovely very slightly pink colour due to the copper content. The only downside is that it does deepen in colour and produce a mark when in contact with skin. This is natural and harmless, just the way copper reacts with the acids and moisture on the skin. To help with this, I will give a little coating of conservation wax, this will slow it a bit, but ideally it’s best to wear your bronze pendant away from the skin, above clothing for instance. When bronze is being worn, it tends to stay shinier for longer. Each necklace will come with its own little polishing cloth, and a little soapy water and a soft toothbrush is great for cleaning jewellery.

There is lots of info about bronze on the jewellery care page and the metals guide page.

They can be purchased with or without a chain, the bronze pendants will come with a 14ct gold filled chain.
