Behind the scenes…
This is I! At long last I now have some more up-to-date photos on my about page. And also, some glimpses of my studio and the things that inspire me. I’m a crazy collector of many a random thing. I have a huge cabinet full with old things, and seaweed, and old bottles and bits of wood. I have some precious books too, old patterned covers and anatomical illustrations of corals and molluscs etc…
Old tales and folklore also make my imagination swirl with ideas for pendants, which I carve from wax and cast in silver, gold and bronze.
To make my jewellery, I often dig out old tools from markets, and some tools have been given to me. The wooden handles have decades of use, and are lovely to work with too!
Of course we all know who is really in charge around here.
This is my bathroom! I love old ships. This one use to be a lamp aparently.
This is my living room…
A Renault 5 and my dream caravan that I found at a car event with my son. Two badges from my recent trip to France.
That frame is Victorian and is made from Bog Oak, which an ancient wood preserved in peat bogs in Ireland and it is very finely carved with shamrocks.
My studio pin board, with ideas, old things, beautifully illustrated cards, and little drawings by my daughter.
In my kitchen, more things! little shells and seaweeds that I find in my son’s pockets when I’m about to put them in the wash. I love that little Italian wooden matches box (It says ‘Fiammiferi’). The tiniest mug that I have ever seen, with an also tiniest ever screwdriver in it. A postcard from my uncle to my daughter from Australia, and an antique engraving of the Needles before the lighthouse was built. And, yes, a ribbon and bell from a Lindt chocolate bunny (who can throw them away, right?). Who would think you could fit all those things on one small shelf!
So thats it for now! I hope you enjoyed this small tour of my interesting things that I love.
